Only Mauna Kea
After the Timeless Mauna Kea campaign for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel came to a close, the hotel began its next campaign, Only Mauna Kea, as a limited print and digital campaign with media buys in a few trade publications and several email communication channels. Within a modest budget and the understanding that there would be little creative assets, we were tasked to concept and create a microsite that could present enough information about the hotel and would push visitor traffic directly to the booking engine.

Developed an idea to divide hotel amenities and activities into the following categories as chapters: on land, ocean/beachside, cultural heritage and evening. Creative assets would come from in-room video footage that we knew we could use from another vendor. To stay within a modest budget and aggressive timeline, consolidated client deliverables and created an interactive prototype to get faster client approval. Building out the microsite in stages allowed us to roll out each chapter on the site based on available content and footage as it became available. Micro-interactions, short video clips and treatments such as cinemagraphs were used to help bring the visual imagery to life.
The project was completed on time and under budget. The client was pleased with the outcome. Knowing this was a small project with limited reach and scope, time was taken to expand upon ideas creatively and mentor junior designers.
